This message is intended for all players and the parents of players interested in dedicating themselves to the Prior Lake American Legion Baseball Program in the summer of 2010. I wanted to take brief moment to inform all of you of a couple items.
Tryouts for the Legion program will be held in May 1st 10:00 AM at Ryan Fields.
All potential Prior Lake Legion players will go through a 5-tool tryout where we will be grading out
Hitting - batting practice and live work
Defensive ability infield and outfield live work
Arm strength
Speed - 60 yd. dash
Pitching - bullpens and live work
Catching –blocking skills and pop-time
Overall athletic ability
Attitude Effort and Commitment to the team!!!
Try outs will be open to the public and we encourage parents or friends to stay and watch. We will not try to overly impress players and families. We believe in giving an honest look at who we are and what we are doing. It is an honor for a player to be a part of this program, not a privilege for Prior Lake Legion Baseball to have him.
We will once again be going to Rapid City, SD for the 2010 Dr. James (Pev) Evans tournament. This tournament traditionally has some of the top legion teams in the Midwest Region with many of whom are their state defending state champions. It is also an opportunity to play in the one of the nicest stadiums around the region and in front of great baseball fans and good sized crowds; we played one game in front of an estimated 1200 fans. The Black Hills is also a great place to visit and the guys that made the trip last year can testify to the time they had.
This program is not for everyone if you are not prepared to be committed to the program dedicated to yourself and teammates have a winning attitude and show great pride in yourself, your family, the community and the program and the great game of baseball than this is not the place for you.
If you want to play in a strong program compete with a group of class people on a great facility, and most importantly get better, than come meet the challenge at Prior Lake Legion Baseball.
